2012 Resonance Vineyard Pinot noir

326 cases produced
unfined and unfiltered
$125 (sold out)
label – Auggie the bull calf

2012 will be our last vintage of pinot noir from this site, and I feel like we are going out with a bang. A warm site in a warm vintage requires restraint, I hope I have achieved this. I finally felt like I really had gotten to know 'my' blocks. I finished the 2007 for Kevin and Carla, and have learned from their observations and careful tending since then. As always this wine is just opening up now and we anticipate this to continue for quite some time. Resonance is always a beautiful balance of dark fruit, warm fall flavors and classic cola, with a weighty palate and integrated tannins.

2011 Resonance Vineyard Pinot noir

194 cases produced
unfined and unfiltered
$125 (sold out)
label – curly the bull

And for some reason, unknown to me, the 2011 exhibits more of this opaqueness than past vintages. I believe with a little more time this wine will be truly exceptional, however we have held it for a year in barrel and a year in bottle and now need to turn it over to you, so we can continue to make the next vintage.

This wine is showing complex aromas of fall leaves, hay, sandal wood, espresso, smoked meat, bakers chocolate and mesquite. Even on the palate there is a round weighty feeling that is high in glycerol assuring that there is considerable fruit power hiding in this wine. On day two blackberry, plum, and raspberry notes emerge. The wine does not gain weight as the fruit appears it actually becomes more elegant.

This wine does provide pleasure now but should be held for the near term.

2010 Resonance Vineyard Pinot noir

125 cases produced
unfined and unfiltered
$150 (sold out)
label – ronnie the steer

The 2010 Pinot Noir Resonance Vineyard was fermented with native yeasts, 75% whole clusters, and aged sur lie in 30% new French oak for 10 months.

The aromatics display brambles, cola and red fruit with vanilla and oak. The mid palate is sweet with licorice, spice and brown sugar. This wine has balanced acidity that carries the wine through to a long finish.

The label on this wine is a grown up version of last year's new-born calf illustration.

2009 Resonance Vineyard Pinot noir

190 cases produced
unfined and unfiltered
$150 (sold out)
label – haley the cow (with the first calf born here on the farm spring 2010)

We feel honored to be trusted with the fruit from this vineyard. Picked in early October, this was our first pinot noir to come in – flavors were allowed to fully develop in the three clones we buy Pommard, Wädenswil, and Dijon 777 – picked at their optimum.

Fermented with native yeast, some Pigeage (foot stomping – yes! still happens and we do wash our feet first) and then aged sur lie in French oak – the intensity of the vineyard and vintage show clearly.

For those who are fans of ’08, the ’09 will knock your socks off. We are sure that it’s opulence will lead to further richness.
