Hi All I rarely post a mid harvest newsletter but this year is extra special!
This is our 20th year making big table farm wine and this harvest is starting off with lots to celebrate... some signs of life in the vineyard and some more great scores rolling in for our chardonnay: a 94 from WE and a 95 from Karen MacNeil! Grab some of the last of the '23 Pelos Sandberg (94 from Wine spectator!)
The grapes have started to come into the winery and fermentations have started and smell terrific!. Last week Brian and I took a moment and went up to the vineyard to ‘harvest’ a few of the very first clusters from our estate vines! Not enough to make wine but we did start a pied de cuvee.- Pied de Cuve is the winemaking equivalent of a sourdough starter. It is used to gather the wild yeast from the vineyard to ferment our wines.
